There were some reports earlier in the week that the Minnesota Vikings could be giving Josh Freeman another crack at quarterback despite his struggles during his Vikings debut, but now there could be some doubt after Thursday’s practice.

When the team took the field, it was Christian Ponder who was taking the first-team reps on offense, according to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier is expected to name his starter on Monday, and you would have to give the edge to Ponder because of his work on Wednesday and Thursday. If Minnesota turns to Freeman at this point, he would not be prepared for the game.

Then again, he wasn’t prepared for his Vikings debut and they had no problem marching him out on to the field.

Regardless of who makes the start, the Dallas Cowboys defense is hoping to have DeMarcus Ware, who said he will be a game-time decision, back in the line up so that he can wreak havoc in the offensive backfield.
