The Buffalo Bills were facing a tough test come Week 9 without any setbacks. Now they’re likely going to be facing the tough test without their ‘starting’ quarterback as the Bills announced that Thad Lewis is doubtful for their Week 9 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lewis, who was practicing earlier in the week has apparently come down with the flu in addition to a rib injury. Combine having sore ribs and the flu and, well, it’s a painful picture.

"Doug Marrone announces Thad Lewis is doubtful for Sunday against the Chiefs. He was a limited participant today. #Bills"

With both Lewis and Manuel sidelined, that leaves either Jeff Tuel or Matt Flynn as potential starters. Both Tuel and Flynn took first team practice reps on Friday, so, assuming Lewis does miss the contest, the Bills will likely announce their starter Sunday morning.

The Bills didn’t have a huge shot against the undefeated Chiefs anyway, though, whatever chance they did have just became extremely limited.
