Darren Sproles ruled out; leaves game with possible concussion, ankle injury
By Bryan Rose
The day didn’t start off so well for the New Orleans Saints, who didn’t have Marques Colston in their starting lineup. Now they’re without running back Darren Sproles, who had to leave the game just minutes into the first quarter.
Sproles, who caught a short swing pass was hit hard by New York Jets strong safety Antonio Allen. Sproles was clearly disoriented after the hit and eventually made his way towards the sideline where the training staff rushed him back to the locker room where he underwent concussion tests.
There’s no word on if Sproles does indeed have a concussion, however, ESPN’s John Clayton has been informed the speedy running back will not be returning to the game as he also reportedly suffered an ankle injury on the play:
"Darren Sproles out of the game for the Saints with an ankle injury."
Jeff Duncan reported Sproles was undergoing concussion tests on the sideline before being taken to the locker room:
"Darren Sproles took a big hit from Antonio Allen on that last screen pass and is undergoing concussion test on Saints sideline now."
