Victor Oladipo is my pick for the rookie of the year. He is a guard who can dabble in playing the point, but he is a playmaker with great speed and athleticism. He has led the young Magic early in the season with 13.8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

In their last game against Brooklyn, Oladipo stole the ball from Deron Williams and threw down a 360 dunk on the other end. He clearly showed some sweet dunking skills, and it prompted the Orlando Sentinel to ask him about being in the dunk contest during All-Star Weekend:

"Magic guard Victor Oladipo told me after the club’s win against the Brooklyn Nets that he would be interested in competing in the slam-dunk contest during All-Star Weekend.Oladipo turned in an eye-opening audition Sunday night, completing a 360-degree dunk off a steal from Nets point guard Deron Williams.“My teammates kept telling me to be aggressive. I just listened,” Oladipo said.Magic guard Victor Oladipo told me after the club’s win against the Brooklyn Nets that he would be interested in competing in the slam-dunk contest during All-Star Weekend.Oladipo turned in an eye-opening audition Sunday night, completing a 360-degree dunk off a steal from Nets point guard Deron Williams.“My teammates kept telling me to be aggressive. I think it’s great that a young star would want to compete in the event. It has kind of become a maligned event that is ridiculed, but people still watch it. I would love to see some of the game’s brightest stars participate, but those days are gone. We will see if he keeps his word. He will already be there for the Rising Stars Game anyways.
