Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah suffered an ankle injury in week 8 before the Detroit Lions went on their bye week.  The hope was that the bye would give him the time to heal and he would be ready for this week’s game against the Chicago Bears.  That is still possible, but Ansah has now been unable to participate in three practices this week, so there is definitely a reason to be concerned about his availability this week.

The timing would be frustrating a the Lions prepare to take on the Bears in a battle that could give the victor sole possession of first place in the NFC North but also establish an important tie breaker.  The Lions defeated the Bears earlier in the season, so if they are able to do it again, the Bears will need to finish better than the Lions in the standings in order to make the playoffs.

That is obviously important, but the Bears are expected to have back quarterback Jay Cutler, the Lions would obviously like all hands on deck to be able to compete this week, including their rookie pass rusher who has been able to notched three sacks so far this season.
