Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel returning to the starting line up on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Thad Lewis will return to the back up role. Lewis was unable to suit up in Week 9 due to a rib injury, so there was some doubt about whether or not he would be able to suit up in Week 10.

The Bills announced the move on Twitter today.

With Lewis and Manuel now healthy, there is a clear cut starter and back up quarterback. Unfortunately for Lewis, his days as the team’s starter are now over.

Lewis did an admirable job in his back up role at times, but he quickly showed the team that he would not be their quarterback of the future. Now, he will finish off the season as the No. 2 signal-caller, unless Manuel suffers another injury.
