Yes you read the headline of this article right, the Boston Red Sox are very interested in picking up veteran free agent Carlos Beltran according to WEEI.com.

Why wouldn’t they? Not only is the man one of the best outfielders in the game, but he’s also the best all around hitter and would be a perfect fit for this organization.

You know that saying, ‘If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em?’, well that could be coming into play very soon. Beltran would more than likely return to the St. Louis Cardinals, but I expect the Red Sox to do everything in their power to make sure he signs with them.

Beltran will most likely be signing the final contract of his career with whoever he decides to play for. If the Red Sox were to offer Beltran a contract and he accepts, the Sox would lose a draft pick of their own. The good thing about this, is they could possibly be picking up three additional draft picks from teams who pick up their current free agents.

The move to bring Beltran would be a tough decision as the team still has Victorino, who  will more than likely stay in right field next season. I think if the Red Sox are actually able to pull off this signing, both guys could split time in center and right next season.
