Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey has been struggling with a nagging foot injury since early in the preseason. Bailey has played in just two games this season and that number won’t be rising to three for at least another week, with the news that he has been ruled out for the team’s match up against the San Diego Chargers.

While Bailey has been ruled out yet again, the veteran cornerback is hopeful that he will be able to return to the field soon.

I’m pretty close (to returning),” Bailey said, via the Denver Post. “It’s really one of those things where I have to practice a few days and get through it — get my confidence back in it. That’s really what it’s based on — the pain and the confidence that I’ll have in my foot.”

The Broncos defense has been struggling greatly, so they would love to have Bailey back on the field, but they will need to find a way to make things work as they continue to move forward.

It will be a tough task this week against Philip Rivers, who has been doing well this season, but the Broncos have dropped just one game so far this season and they continue to find a way to slow down offenses enough to earn the wins.
