On this first night of college basketball for many teams around the country, we simply didn’t see a whole lot of drama unfold in the final moments. What I’m trying to say is, it certainly wasn’t NCAA Tournament time. I guess that’s to be expected with most of the “big boys” playing easy games.
We did however get a great show and finish at UC Irivine, where the Anteaters trailed Fresno State 95-94 with less than 30 seconds to go. UCI decided to drain the clock and then Alex Young stepped back and iced a three-pointer for what seemed to be the game-winner with 2.1 left.
Allen Huddleston of Fresno wasn’t done though throwing up a running from near half court and banking it in for the awesome winner. Here’s the sequence:
Now that’s what I call a great start to the 2013/2014 college basketball season. My favorite part of the video is the incredible high of the UCI fans and then the cameraman barely pans back in time to catch Huddleston heave it. Needless to say, the ultimate groan from the crowd is classic.
