The New York Giants got off to a slow start to the 2013-14 regular season, but wide receiver Victor Cruz thinks they still have a chance to win the NFC East and earn a spot in the NFL postseason. In order to do that, the Giants will have to get red hot, but if Cruz’s prediction is accurate it is still a possibility.

When asked how many wins it will take to win the NFC East, Cruz said that he thinks nine will be the magic number.

I think it’s going to be nine,” Cruz told Erik Kuselias on Pro Football Talk on NBCSN.  “Anywhere between eight and nine, maybe even 10.  It’s going to be a tight race, especially with ourselves and obviously Dallas and Washington.  This entire division, it can swing with one win, swing from one team to another.  It’s going to come down to the wire. . . .

“I think it’s the race to nine.  Who ever gets to nine first and maybe it’s going to come down to one of those games between ourselves and Washington, later on in the season.  We’ll see where it goes.”

In order to get to nine wins, the Giants will need to go 7-1 down the stretch.

They still have some tough games on the schedule that will make it difficult, but the Giants have gone on a hot streak to end a season before and that landed them with a Super Bowl win. We will have to see if they can get hot at the right time and go on another improbable run.
