Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson was arrested on DWI charges following the team’s Thursday night win over the Washington Redskins, which could land him in hot water with the league office.

Simpson returned to the team today for the first time for his arrest, and he wasted no time apologizing for the incident and the distraction that it has caused for his team.

“I sincerely apologize for the attention that I have brought to the fans, community and myself,” Simpson said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I’ve just got great support with this team, and they’re going to help with whatever arises.”

Simpson was already on probation because of a drug arrest in 2012, which led to a three-game NFL suspension, so it isn’t out of the question that he will face further legal troubles and another suspension from the league.

Whether or not that comes remains to be seen, but until then he plans to suit up for the team next week and start against the Seattle Seahawks.
