Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was arrested on marijuana possession charges after being pulled over for speeding as the team ended their bye week. Bowe’s car was searched when police officers smelled marijuana, and the search discovered more than 10 grams of the drug — 6.6 and 3.8 grams in separate containers.

The Chiefs were informed of Bowe’s arrest before the public knew, but they have yet to say anything substantial on the matter.

In a release that echoes what any NFL team would say at this point, “We’re aware of the situation. We have no comment at this point.”

The Chiefs are currently preparing to take on the division rival Denver Broncos on Sunday night, in the top game on the Week 11 schedule, so they obviously were hoping to get through their preparation without any distractions.

The good news for Kansas City is that head coach Andy Reid can play Bowe and say he is allowing the legal matter to play out.

However, the team will have to wait and see if the league decides to suspend Bowe once that course of action takes place.
