The New Orleans Saints are clearly worried about the confidence of kicker Garrett Hartley. He’s been a reliable kicker at times, but tends to lose his confidence and go into slumps that eventually cost the Saints a game. Hartley missed his only field goal attempt Sunday versus the Dallas Cowboys but did convert 7-for-7 on extra points, so it went unnoticed behind the Saints’ barrage of points scored.

But they’re not about to wait and let Hartley’s ineffectiveness cost them a game:

After watching kicker Randy Bullock struggle for eight weeks, the Houston Texans brought in three kickers for a tryout last Tuesday that included Rackers, Graham and Justin Medlock, but opted to stay with the struggling Randy Bullock.

In the end, the Saints will likely stick with Hartley one more week, but he needs to produce this week in a big game against the San Francisco 49ers.
