It’s time once again for one of my favorite NFL rivalries in the NFC East with the Washington Redskins visiting Lincoln Financial to take on the suddenly hot Philadelphia Eagles.

Washington is coming off of a loss to the pedestrian Minnesota Vikings and sit in last place in the East at 3-6. Somehow they’re still in the race though, only two and a half games back of both Dallas and Philly.

It was at this point last season when the Redskins put it into fifth gear and finished strong, but it seems improbable that it would happen two years in a row. If they are to begin that type of comeback though, it has to start in Philly this week. I’m sure desperation will be the word of the day for Washington as they try and stay alive.

The Eagles meanwhile are surging towards the stretch run behind new offensive weapon Nick Foles, who has thrown for 11 touchdowns in the past two football games.

This will be a different meeting than the first game back in week one between these two, when the Eagles down the Redskins 33-27 at FedEx Field. Watching Washington try and defend the hapless Vikings last week was tough to do and this week it doesn’t get easier for that defense.

Griffin III will make a game of it, but the high-powered Eagles offense should be able to dispose of the Redskins this weekend at home. LeSean McCoy leads the NFL in rushing and I think he puts up a couple touchdowns this week as the Eags put the dagger in team from the nation’s capital.
