Carlos Marmol has been known to frustrate Chicago Cubs fans across the country as he’s been responsible for loading the bases with either walks or hitting batters.

But at one time, Marmol wasn’t all that bad and actually led the league in holds at one point. Carlos has a strong arm and a nasty slider when it’s on point. Other times that slider gets away from Marmol, but when he’s in his zone he’s able to strike out the side and close out games.

The Colorado Rockies have made it known that they’re interested in bulking up their bullpen and have shown interest in LaTroy Hawkins, Brian Wilson and others. But why not Carlos Marmol?

He could start off as a middle relief guy who eventually works himself to the later innings and possibly a closing role with this organization. He worked as a set up man and closer with the Chicago Cubs for awhile, so he’s familiar with the role.

On top of that, he shouldn’t cost the team an arm and a leg to bring him on board. You never know, he could be due for a break out year and could work out perfectly for the Rockies.

Marol has a career win/loss record of 23-32 with a 3.46 ERA, 730 strike outs and 117 saves.
