Earlier this year we saw the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels both wear red uniforms in a game. It was confusing, but in baseball it isn’t that bad. You aren’t having to identify moving players in split seconds and make decisions on where to pass or run. In another sport, like basketball maybe, it would make the game very challenging.

When the Atlanta Hawks took the court at Madison Square Garden they were wearing red uniforms, which is typical for away teams to wear colored uniforms. When the New York Knicks took the court, they were wearing orange uniforms.

In person it might not be as hard to differentiate the colors. On television, it is a nightmare.

The only real way to tell the two teams apart is the shorts. Atlanta’s has a little black stripe on the sides of the shorts. Aside from that you can barely tell them apart. I would suggest the Knicks changing uniforms at half time because they’re the home team. But I’m not sure if that is legal or permissible in the rules.
