The Ben Roethlisberger trade rumors have been swirling around ever since they were reported. Roethlisberger has been very adamant about his desire to stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers and that he didn’t want to or ever did ask for a trade.

The rumor stories got some extra life on Sunday when NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport brought it up again. His previous reports were based on Roethlisberger being frustrated and wanting to seek out a trade. He elaborated this weekend suggesting that Roethlisberger has concerns about Todd Haley and the offense. He also suggested Roethlisberger’s contract, which doesn’t fall in the elite category, was an issue.

Numerous quarterbacks have contracts approaching $20 million, some with one Super Bowl win, some with none. Roethlisberger has two Super Bowl rings and is making $12.1 million in 2014 and $11.6 million in 2015.

Roethlisberger is getting some support from Art Rooney II though, who addressed the rumors.

It’s ridiculous,” Rooney said Sunday, via Devan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Or course, Roethlisberger addressed them again.

“False and false,” Roethlisberger said. “Did Ian do that one?  Surprise, surprise.”
