Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which comes on the heels of a hip injury that had him on the sidelines for a couple of weeks, so his return to the field is up in the air. Cutler is listed as week-to-week, but he seems awfully concerned about when he can make his return.

Specifically, Cutler believes that there could be some ligament damage in his ankle that could force his injury to take longer to heal.

“There are a couple of ligaments that we’re a little worried about that’s different than the normal high ankle sprain,” Cutler said. “There are a few other things involved. If I just had a normal high ankle sprain, I wouldn’t be in a cast. [A cast] helps it scar up and stuff, but the normal high ankle sprain isn’t really a concern at this point.”

We will have to see when Cutler is able to return, but it doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon.

The Bears got some help when the Detroit Lions were upset by the Pittsburgh Steelers, so they remain alive in the NFC North race. However, their chances take a significant hit if Cutler cannot return to the field.
