Darrelle Revis plans to be physical against Calvin Johnson

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon, NFL fans will be treated to a brilliant one-on-one match up between two of the best players in the league. Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis and Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will be going head-to-head, as Megatron looks to get back at Revis, who was able to shut him down in their first meeting back in 2010.

Revis says that this weekend he will do what it was he did a few years ago to hold Johnson to one catch and 13 yards — get physical.

“My thought was always just to be physical with him,” Revis said, via Pro Football Talk. “No receiver wants to get jammed and pressed at the line, so just be physical with those guys and match what they bring to the table.

“He’s one of the best in the league — he’s the best. He’s the best receiver in the league. I’ve played him before and I’m very familiar with him. I’m looking forward to it this week.”

When you play a wide receiver up close to line of scrimmage, you can knock them off of their routes and disrupt any rhythm.

If Revis can shut down Johnson yet again, the Buccaneers could have a real shot at pulling off their third-straight win this season.

Yeah, whatever… Stafford missed the first two months of that season with a shoulder injury, and returned only a week before the Jets game, and in fact the Jets game was his last of the season. This time, Stafford and Calvin are both 100%, not to mention more in sync due to three more years of playing time together. Revis, who hasn’t gotten any younger and is coming off knee surgery, will have a somewhat more difficult task this time around. If the Bucs roll coverage to CJ, Bush will gash them on the ground. Burleson will be back, as will Ziggy Ansah. The Bucs simply don’t have the weapons to win this one, unless the Lions let them.
