Another fantastic bout has been set for UFC on FOX 10 in Chicago on January 25th. Heavyweights, Stipe Miocic and Gabriel Gonzaga will meet in a battle that is sure to bring fireworks.
Gonzaga is one of the few UFC Heavyweights that has been around for quite some time. He started his UFC career back in 2005 at UFC 56, with a knockout over Kevin Jordan. His most recent victory came at UFC 166, where he knocked out Shawn Jordan. Gonzaga is tied with Frank Mir for the most finishes at Heavyweight in UFC history with 11. He is currently on a two fight winning streak, both by knockout, and will look to continue his career resurgence against Stipe Miocic in January.
Miocic is 10-1 in his career, with his only loss coming at the hands of Stefan Struve back in 2012. He had a great rebound performance against Roy Nelson, where he outstruck Roy and won a unanimous decision. Before his loss to Struve, Miocic had a lot of hype behind him. With a statement win over Gonzaga, expect that hype train to be fully back on track.
With the current state of the UFC Heavyweight division, a statement win by either man could have them in title contention in the very near future.
Here is the UFC on FOX 10 card thus far:
- Benson Henderson vs Josh Thomson
- Darren Elkins vs Jeremy Stephens
- Gabriel Gonzaga vs Stipe Miocic
