I posted about an hour ago that the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were discussing a possible trade that would send David Freese to Los Angeles.

In that article I assumed that Mark Trumbo, who has been in the rumor mill for a couple weeks, would be involved in the trade. Well now that things have moved forward between the two, it looks like the St. Louis Cardinals found the man they would be interested in.

Now the reigning National League Champions could be interested in Bourjos just in case veteran outfielder Carlos Beltran decides to sign else where. Right now the Cardinals have Matt Holliday, Jon Jay, Shane Robinson, Oscar Taveras and Joey Butler in their outfield.

Bourjos isn’t much of an offensive threat, but he gives them the speed they need in center field and he has a career .991 fielding percentage. He hasn’t played any other position but center, so if he were traded to the Cardinals, the position would be his.

In 175 at bats, Bourjos hit only three home runs and recorded 12 RBI’s with a batting line of .274/.333/.377. He only played in 55 games.

So what do you think St. Louis Cardinals fans? Should the Cardinals ask for more than just Bourjos for Freese? The guy is a former World Series MVP. Seems a little cheap.
