New York Jets safety Ed Reed was wearing a shirt on Thursday that had a picture of a football. It was made to look like an old wild west wanted poster and read: “Wanted: In the air or on the ground. $20,000.” Does that mean Ed Reed is offering $20,000 per turnover?

“No, I’m not offering 20 grand for a turnover,” Reed joked when asked about the shirt, via A.J. Perez of the Newark Star-Ledger. “It’s a shirt.”

Turnovers have been a problem for the Jets. They’re 28th in interceptions and 30th in the league in fumble recoveries. They’re tied with the San Diego Chargers for the least amount of takeaways in the league. Head coach Rex Ryan even suggested switching to a cover 2 to help the defensive secondary.

“We’ve got to really take a hard look at what we’re asking our guys to do,” Ryan said, via the New York Daily News. “If we’ve got to play Cover 2 every snap, then that’s what we have to do, to keep the ball from going over our head.”

The Jets signed safety Ed Reed to help the secondary. Last week they avoided throwing to Reed.

“It’s not an individual game, it’s a team game,” Reed said. “That’s a respect thing. They found another way to win the ballgame.”
