The NFL has announced a $15,750 fine against New England Patriots offensive lineman Marcus Cannon for the leg whip he had against the Carolina Panthers that caused defensive end Charles Johnson to leave the game on a cart, according to a league spokesman.  The whip which caught Johnson resulted in a sprained knee which has caused him to be out this week as the Panthers take on the Miami Dolphins.

No flag was thrown on the play, which resulted in the Panthers’ coaching staff to be enraged.  It was not the most controversial no call of the game as the discussion for the following several days was about the flag that was picked up over the ‘uncatchable pass’ from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski on the last play of the game.  Had it not been for the play and call, this would have received significantly more attention and while the Panthers are happy to have gotten the win against the Patriots, they would really like to have a healthy Johnson back to rush the passer from the left end spot.
