Yesterday I posted an article talking about the St. Louis Cardinals weighing their shortstop options (click here) and how they were interested in three free agents.

Well later on that day, the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim pulled off another big trade that sent former World Series MVP David Freese to Los Angeles. Now that Freese is in Los Angeles, that leaves a hole at third base that will need to be filled.

The Cardinals are going to have move forward and right now it looks like Jhonny Peralta may be the best option for them at both positions. He’s a player who can play both shortstop and third base and he can also provide some power in this lineup.

The only problem is, he’s a player in his 30’s looking for a four year deal. I’m not sure if the St. Louis Cardinals will be interested in offering him that long of a deal, but they could possibly take the risk. Maybe convince him to sign a two year deal with an option of a third year.
