The Chicago Bears are playing the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, and at least one Bears fan is out in St. Louis to support his team. The fan donned what I assume is his favorite jersey.

The jersey has former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher’s number, 54, on it. The nameplate however reads “Payton” and not Urlacher. Both are bears greats, but Payton wore number 34. It could be a mistake, a hilarious one at that.

It could be a way to honor his two favorite players in a seemingly confusing manner. Custom jerseys aren’t specifically cheaper than regular jerseys either. A custom Elite Nike jersey sells for $300, and an Urlacher Elite jersey retails for $250. A Urlacher “Game Day” jersey retails for $100-$110 while a custom one retails for $140-$150.

So it wasn’t an effort to get a jersey on the cheap by ordering a custom one. That leads me to believe this was intentional. As long as he is happy with it I suppose.
