Samsung is putting together a team of the 11 best players in the world on a team called the “GALAXY 11″ to take on a threatening alien race. They’re announcing the team week by week. First, they released a video announcing Lionel Messi as the team captain.
“We are excited to welcome Lionel Messi as the captain of the GALAXY 11 team and invite the world to join us as we enter the ‘recruitment’ chapter of this fantasy-inspired story,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “At Samsung, creativity is at the core of everything we do. GALAXY 11 extends our legacy of developing multi-layered, 360-degree campaigns that are both entertaining and engaging. We encourage fans to follow this fantasy meets reality campaign, as we introduce more ways for fans to get closer to their favorite sport and players.”
Then they added Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Götze to the squad. After that they added Chelesa’s attacking midfielder and Brazilian national Oscar dos Santos.
On Saturday they added Wu Lei, midfielder for Shanghai Dongya F.C. and the Chinese national team.
Then on Tuesday they added Stephan El Shaarawy, striker for A.C. Milan and the Italian national team.
The video’s are still odd. Lionel Messi’s video was longer and more entertaining. El Shaarawy’s his just him getting his hair spiked. I don’t know what they’re showing in the other two videos. They’re very brief and just show their faces basically.
We know five players of the team and we got six to go, so we’re about at the halfway point. There is a lot of talent left around the world so it will be interesting to see who makes the team.
That brings to roster to:
- Lionel Messi
- Stephan El Shaarawy
- Mario Götze
- Oscar dos Santos
- Wu Lei
Stay tuned to FanSided as we keep you up to date on who has been selected to the GALAXY 11.
