Washington State Cougars’ head man Mike Leach is a character. He generally has a dry sense of humor, but he can be funny with the best of em as well. He’s also very straight forward when it comes to focusing on his team’s goals and necessary focuses for any given week. Very straight forward.

So the questions that continued to center around his team’s preparation for the Cougars’ biggest game of the season (the Apple Cup vs. Washington) continued to get answers that centered around playing the next play and beating the guy across from you.

There were a few questions that really caught the coach’s attention in Monday’s press conference. How good is Bishop Sankey of Washington? Does it matter who the Huskies start at quarterback? What was the effect of last year’s Apple Cup win in Pullman?

There were a couple more, which you can see in Lew Wright’s Leach presser coverage here, but one specifically goaded the awesome comedian in Leach; (being that it’s Thanksgiving and all) “what are you thankful for this holiday season?”

"“They asked me that at the Tangerine Bowl, getting ready to play Clemson. So it’s me and Tommy Bowden. Actually they asked me what I wanted for Christmas. They’re waiting for you to be greedier than hell and go, “I want to win the bowl game.” So they’re waiting for that. The pitfall of that occurred to me. So then I thought, what would Miss America do in this situation? I wished for world peace. So my Thanksgiving wish is for world peace.”"

Only Mike Leach. Sounds like this will probably be his answer forever… so now you always know what Mike Leach is wishing for during his holiday’s.

His wish may be for world peace, but what he’s really thankful for is Miss America. After all, she gave him his life-long answer.
