At one point in his career, Johan Santana was one of the most feared pitchers in all of baseball.

But that was almost several years ago. Since then, Santana has been struggling to stay healthy as he’s coming off his second straight surgery to repair a torn capsule.

Even though he’s still rehabbing, the left handed veteran is still getting some interest from teams across the league. Which is good news considering the types of problems he has had as of late.

Now according to Ben Nicholson-Smith on Twitter, Johan Santana’s agent says that his shoulder feels “way better” as he’s been throwing from a distance of 90 feet.

This is obviously further than the pitchers mound which is great progress. From the center of the mound to home plate, it’s around 57-60 feet.

A team that’s very interested in Santana right now is the team he happened to shine with the most, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins are actively looking for some arms to throw in their rotation. Santana may come across as one of the cheap ones that could result in a steal.

They’re looking to offer around a five year contract to a starting pitcher but may end up offering Santana a one or two year deal just to be safe. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Toronto Blue Jays get involved.
