Carolina Panthers veteran wide receiver Steve Smith may be getting up there in age, but he’s still one of the leagues best receivers.

The 34 year old wide out and the Carolina Panthers are currently in the hunt for a playoff spot in the NFC. They’re playing some great football this season and are coming off a win against the Miami Dolphins. Smith brought in five receptions for 69 yards with his longest pick up of the game being 19.

This Sunday the 8-3, second place Panthers will take on the third place Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an NFC South showdown. Right now they’re trying to keep stride for stride with Drew Brees and that recharged New Orleans Saints team.

Today as the team continued to prepare, Smith missed practice due to a knee issue. This could be just a rest day for Smith as he’ll be monitored and more than likely limited if he returns to practice tomorrow.

His status for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers is uncertain for right now, but should be updated within the next couple days.
