San Francisco 49ers right corner back Tarell Brown suffered a rib injury against the New Orleans Saints Wednesday and something else that could have been a serious problem.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Brown had to spend a night in a New Orleans hospital for more than bruised ribs. It was revealed that he actually sustained some internal damage as well.

That’s something you always have to be careful about. The speed these players have on the field and the way they collide could be compared to a car accident. There’s always a risk of internal problems when playing a sport that is nothing but contact.

He said he had trouble breathing, especially on the flight back. It had to be very uncomfortable enough with the rib problems. Brown’s lucky he didn’t suffer the injury in Denver.

Brown isn’t supposed to play against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday so the team will more than likely roll with Tramaine Brock and Carlos Rogers as their starters.
