The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are in a defensive battle right now as the second half of the game is underway.

During the first half of the game, starting quarterback Christian Ponder was seeing a decent amount of pressure from a defensive front who hasn’t done much all season. Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has already recorded two sacks on Ponder with Isaiah Frey and Stephen Paea both being credit with half a sack each.

Minnesota hasn’t had the best of luck with their starting quarterbacks this year. They even went out and signed free agent quarterback Josh Freeman, hoping he would help turn things around. Since the beginning of the year, Minnesota has changed quarterbacks at least four to five times.

As a Bears fan, I’m used to seeing my team going through quarterbacks like they were M&M’s. Now I thought Ponder was going to do great things this year after having a spectacular season for the Vikings in 2012. That hasn’t been the case this year.

Ponder took a hit from McClellin today after attempting a pass, which sent him to the turf. It was said to be a club to the head, which sent Ponder heading to the locker room after the drive. Christian was evaluated for a concussion and was replaced by Matt Cassel.

The crowd cheered Cassel as he stepped on the field for the first time before the half. Ponder went 3/8 for 40 passing yards.
