The Washington Redskins suffered yet another loss in Week 13, after failing rally together against the division rival New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. It was just the latest setback for the Redskins this season and now their defense could be losing their leader.
Late in the loss, veteran linebacker London Fletcher hobbled off the field with a leg injury, but it was not immediately known what the injury was and how severe it would be.
Today, we learned that Fletcher suffered a sprained ankle after having his leg rolled up on and we will learn more about his status today.
From the Washington Post:
"Inside linebacker London Fletcher sprained an ankle on Washington’s last defensive stand of the game. Fletcher said after the game that he expected some swelling and soreness, but that he wouldn’t likely know how serious the sprain was until the morning."
The Redskins defense is already a mess, so they can ill-afford to lose a player as talented and experienced as Fletcher.
Fletcher has played in a league leading 252 consecutive games, so we know he will give suiting up next week his best shot. However, if the injury is too severe, his streak will be coming to an end.
