If Ryan Kelly didn’t have a foot injury last year at Duke, he could have been a potential first round pick. He did have to foot injury, so that caused him to fall to the second round, and he was drafted by the Lakers with the 48th pick. Traditional wisdom would state that they drafted a big who can shoot because he fits what Mike D’Antoni wants to do, but all teams can use shooters, so don’t look too much into that.

Kelly hasn’t seen much time on the court this season, as he has just played seven minutes all year. The Lakers are being smart with him, sending him to the D-League to work on certain things, and getting reps. Now that the Lakers waived Elias Harris, and are battling injuries, Kelly has been called back up to LA, the team announced. Kelly averaged 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals in three games with the D-Fenders, and he looked impressive.
