UPDATE: Later in the half, the Seahawks were able to break the record:

******

The Seattle Seahawks are currently hosting the New Orleans Saints on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football.” It is battle between two of the top teams in the NFL, with the Seahawks sitting at 10-1 on the year and the Saints at 9-2. The game features one of the best quarterbacks of the past decade in Drew Brees going up against second-year phenom Russell Wilson.

But none of that matters. What matters is the noise record that Seattle fans attempted (and failed) to break.

See, Seahawks fans found themselves in possession of a Guinness World Record after the notoriously rowdy bunch set the mark for loudest crowd roar at an open-air sports stadium. The record was set back on Sept. 15, but it was quickly broken a month later by fans of the Kansas City Chiefs.

With the eyes of the nation on them tonight, Seattle fans tried to reclaim the all-important record. The result? Well…

Ah. So close. Better luck next time, Seattle fans. But hey, at least your team may win the game. That’s, like, almost as cool as a world record, right?
