The Knicks are just 3-13 on the season, and they need some serious help if they are going to turn this around. They don’t have a lot of assets, but Iman Shumpert is someone who they can float out there, and can possibly get some good players in return if he’s traded.

The Knicks are bad on defense and offense, and there isn’t much Shumpert to do to help them. So who would take the bulk of minutes that Shumpert is using? Rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. is the best choice.

J.R. Smith is terrible this season, and in my opinion, they should start Hardaway Jr. He is averaging 7 points in just 15 minutes per game, and he is shooting 40% from beyond the arc, which is what the Knicks want to do. In the 4th quarter against the Pelicans on Sunday, Shumpert missed the entire period in favor of Hardaway, and he wasn’t happy about it. “Of course I want to play,” Shumpert said after the game, “Timmy was making shots.”

Before the benching, Shumpert got in a shouting match with Carmelo Anthony on the bench:

It would seem that Iman Shumpert could be on the way out, and the fact that Tim Hardaway Jr. could make it easier for James Dolan to pull the trigger.
