Kellen Winslow picks AFC Championship teams despite Jets not being eliminated
By Bryan Rose
The New York Jets aren’t likely to make the postseason as they sit at 5-7 and have all but been eliminated from the AFC East race. And granted, they’d need some luck on their side to leapfrog teams ahead of them who share an identical record, but they’re currently just a game behind the Baltimore Ravens (6-6) who occupy the final Wild Card spot in the AFC.
So it’s not that outlandish to think the Jets still have a fighting chance to see the postseason. Likely? Probably not, but stranger things have happened so it’s a bit odd to see a player from a team still in contention making his AFC and NFC Championship picks, which didn’t include his own team.
Tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. decided he’d share his title game picks with Donté Stallworth, which haven’t exactly sat well with Jets fans despite what Winslow thought would be a relatively innocent tweet:
"Kellen Winslow Jr. tweeted his picks Monday night for the AFC and NFC title games. “I got the pats vs broncos in AFC championship game and Panthers vs Seahawks in NFC championship,” the Jets tight end said in a Twitter reply to free-agent receiver Donté Stallworth.Although Winslow’s predictions aren’t all that surprising, he’s still part of a team that hasn’t — at least mathematically — been eliminated from playoff contention."
