In light of the announcement that the Houston Texans were having an earlier press conference today, there has been a ton of speculation if that means the team is announcing the firing of head coach Gary Kubiak.  There has been some talk that the earlier time was because they were preparing to take three days off, but that has not stopped speculation about Kubiak.  theMMQB.com’s Peter King weighed in:

If this is true, the Texans appear to be getting a jump on searching for a new head coach.  There has been speculation that the Texans ownership was unhappy with the performance of the coaching staff and the amount of impact they have had on personnel decisions as well as the NFL Draft.

The season has been a disaster as the Texans were expected to be a contender by many and the quarterback position that had not really been addressed in the past few years was the source of their issues.  Should Kubiak be fired, the new head coach will likely inherit the #1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and have a chance to hand pick which quarterback they want to lead the team next season.
