For the past few hours, we’ve been leaked small bits of information suggesting power hitter Mark Trumbo was allegedly going to be traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. It’s no longer as rumor as according to Nick Piecoro, the deal is complete.

The trade, which also involves the Anaheim Angels and Chicago White Sox breaks down like this:

  • Arizona Diamondbacks receive 1B/OF Mark Trumbo from the Anaheim Angels and two players to be named later (Update: White Sox, Angels will each send one player)
  • Chicago White Sox receive OF Adam Eaton from the Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Anaheim Angels receive pitchers Tyler Skaggs from Arizona Diamondbacks, Hector Santiago from Chicago White Sox.

Arizona has been in the market for a power hitter all offseason and hinted they weren’t going to leave the Winter Meetings without one, suggesting Trumbo as one of their two main targets. How the Diamondbacks plan to use Trumbo is unknown considering he and Paul Goldschmidt play the same position, though, it’s likely we’ll see one of them placed in the outfield permanently.

Meanwhile, the White Sox receive the speedy Eaton who was a former elevated prospect who has seen his star fizzle a bit due to injury. However, when he’s played he’s produced.

Lastly, the Angels who’ve been pitching hungry secure themselves two Major League ready starters, a deal which seemingly fills a variety of holes for all teams involved.
