The Bobcats have actually been a decent team this season. They are defending well under Steve Clifford, and they have a real chance at the playoffs this year.

Well, it looks like they will be getting some more depth on the wing. The Bobcats have signed forward Chris Douglas-Roberts, the team announced on Wednesday:

"Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that the team has signed free agent guard/forward Chris Douglas-Roberts and waived forward James Southerland. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Douglas-Roberts, who was playing with the NBA D-League Texas Legends, becomes the fifth D-League Gatorade Call-Up of the 2013-14 season."

Douglas-Roberts was a guy who flirted with the Lakers organization the last few years, and he was in the Knicks’ camp this summer. He averaged 18.7 points with the Texas Legends of the D-League for six games this season, and he will get his chance in the NBA now.

If CDR can defend, there will be some minutes for him in Charlotte. It’s good to see a guy who has tried so hard to make it get his chance in the NBA again. He has played 161 games over 4 years with 3 teams.
