The MLB Winter Meetings are going on in Florida at the moment which means there is plenty of trade activity around baseball. One of the names being circulated is New York Yankees outfielder Brett Garnder and according to Joel Sherman, the Cincinnati Reds are looking to try and strike a deal to land the speedster.

Before you get too into the idea of the Yankees moving Gardner, the Bombers aren’t going to just give him up and are said to not even be shopping him. This latest rumor flies in the face of that notion, but Sherman points out that the Yankees are holding out for a deal they can’t refuse.

Sean Marshall is a name the Reds have shown a willingness to move but New York isn’t interested in making him a part of a deal for Gardner. Cincinnati is looking at Gardner as a replacement for free agent outfielder Shin-Soo Choo who will be likely signing a deal worth more than $100 million with a big name club.

The Reds aren’t close to making a deal for Gardner but they’re showing an interest and it’s clear that the Yankees are at the very least listening to what they have to offer.
