The biggest story in the NFL today was that the Washington Redskins deactivated franchise quarterback Robert Griffin III for Sunday’s game and will instead be starting Kirk Cousins in his place. RGIII spoke to the press today and not only confirmed that he’s out this week but let it be known that he’s done for the season.

“I’m sure everybody knows by now that coach decided to shut me down for the rest of the season. We talked, I talked to coach, he talked to me about it. I expressed my desire to play,” Griffin said at his press conference which was aired on ESPN and NFL Network. ” He explained to me his reasoning. At the end of the day, coach’s decision is what we go with.”

Having Robert Griffin III sit for the rest of the season was something we saw coming but it’s sort of heavy to take it in the way it’s happened. All of this drama in Washington has been a circus but as they say in Bad Boys, it just got real. Shanahan benching Griffin for the rest of the season is both a smart move to make and an utter brilliant move to sabotage a team he clearly wants no part of.
