According to NBC’s Pro Football Talk, Pittsburgh Steelers center Cody Wallace has been fined $7,875 for being unnecessarily rough while trying to fight for the football with Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Randy Starks this past Sunday. In case you missed the infamous play, here’s a little reminder of what went down in the pile.

Wallace said after the game that he was just going for the ball and didn’t intend for there to be any awkwardness:

"I was trying to get under the pile and get a hand on the football. Unfortunately, I didn’t get low enough As soon as I realized what was happening, I definitely stopped. It’s unfortunate it looks that way and came out that way (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)."

Starks, as you could probably imagine, wasn’t exactly pleased about what went down.

To make matters worse, Wallace was hit with another fine, too ($10,000 for a late hit). While incurring two fines isn’t exactly the result players want in their first NFL start, hopefully Wallace can learn from his mistakes and put the whole situation (wait for it…) behind him.
