New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been dealing with a number of injuries that has limited his production this year, but he had told reporters he would not be shutting it down this season and he was hoping to return to the field.

However, it appears that the doctors are advising Pierre-Paul otherwise after his latest injury to his shoulder and they suggest that he takes the final three weeks of the season off to ensure his shoulder gets back to 100 percent without any further setbacks.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN:

Hopefully Pierre-Paul will take the doctor’s advice and swallow his pride, especially with the Giants postseason hopes down the drain, but we all know athletes are a stubborn bunch and Pierre-Paul may still try to fight through the pain to return to the field.
