Just when I thought the Kansas City Chiefs were going to have to fight to keep their lead in tact, things escalated pretty quick.

Right after the Raiders cut the lead down to just four points, Alex Smith was able to find running back Jamaal Charles for another receiving touchdown. The first couple touchdown receptions went for 49, 39, 16 and then 72 yards as Charles is having himself a career game.

Actually, both guys are having the best games of their careers. What a pair these two have become this season. Maybe Smith is the quarterback that Charles has been waiting for, in order for him to reach that next level. I know he’s been a great player, but when was the last time Charles had a game like this?

Starting quarterback Alex Smith has a career high five touchdown passes in this game, one of those going to tight end Sean McGrath.

Smith has almost 300 passing yards on the day and Charles has almost 200 yards receiving. Not much going on when it comes to the ground game from Charles as he only has 20 yards on the day. But hey, with receiving stats like that, it doesn’t really matter, right? Right.

Running back Knile Davis scored on a 17 yard run to bring Kansas City’s total to help his team reach 56 points.
