On a podcast of the Fox Sports show “Unconventional Wisdom,” Scott Fujita, Gabe Kapler, and Brendon Ayanbadejo spoke about drug use in Major League Baseball and the National Football League.

I encourage you to check out parts of the podcast here.

At one point in the conversation, Brendon Ayanbadejo is asked how many supplements he took a day while playing in the NFL.  He answers the question saying he “had a compound chemist that would design a whole supplement program.”  Ayanbadejo says he used the “supplement program” when he was around 35 years old to replicate his hormonal levels from his late twenties.  After he gives a brief overview of what the supplements were for, Ayanbadejo says he was “popping 100 pills a day.”

Wow! That is a lot of pills.  I understand the mindset of someone willing to potentially sacrifice their long-term health for the ability to play in the NFL, but it still boggles the mind.  What do you think about taking 100 pills a day?

The conversation on “Unconventional Wisdom” also goes over each player’s experience with teammates using PEDs.  Ayanbadejo claims the NFL is relatively clean, which Gabe Kapler, a former MLB player, is not buying.  For the record, I don’t buy it either.
