Betting against the Seattle Seahawks’ defense isn’t a good idea. But betting against the Seattle Seahawks’ defense and betting on the New York Giants’ offense? That seems like quite the gamble, a gamble a local Seattle car dealership is wishing they didn’t make as they have to shell out $420,000 (not really) dollars to winners of a recent promotion.

According to ESPN, a local car dealer decided they’d run a contest which involved the Seahawks shutting out the New York Giants in Week 15.

It wasn’t likely to happen – you’d figure New York would have at least knocked through a field goal at minimum, but come the end of regulation the Giants had zero points and the Seahawks had their shutout.

The end result was a handful of consumers getting a $35K payday:

"The Seattle Seahawks’ 23-0 shutout of the New York Giants on Sunday will make 12 people $35,000 richer on Monday.Jet Chevrolet, a car dealership in Federal Way, Wash., located 25 miles south of Seattle, had a promotion that if the Seahawks shut out the Giants, 12 people would split $420,000 equally."

Thankfully for the dealership, they did purchase insurance on the promotion so they’ll only be out about $7,000 dollars.

Even better? You didn’t even have to buy a car to enter the contest.
