No surprise here, Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs has been named the AFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 15 of the NFL season.

Darin Gantt of ProFootballTalk.com reported the news:

"“Charles was named AFC offensive player of the week, the kind of thing that usually happens when you score five touchdowns in a game.”"

Charles, absolutely tore up the Oakland Raiders during the Chiefs’ huge 56-31 win over their rivals, and in the process; he gained himself a ton of national attention.

There’s talk of Charles being a NFL MVP candidate for the whole year, let alone offensively for the week; so that goes to show you just how good Charles was.

Let’s get to the numbers. Charles collected four touchdowns and 195 yards through the air this past Sunday—remember, he’s a running back—and also ran in a score. He looked like he was on a completely different planet than the Raiders. He made them look slow, unprepared and literally unable to stop him.

It’s not as if Kansas City was reinventing the wheel either. Charles beat the Raiders on a handful of screen plays, and a nice wheel route.

He’s been a huge reason the Chiefs have made the playoffs a year after going 2-14, and he’s a very deserving recipient of the weekly award.

That’s an understatement.
