Steelers LB Terence Garvin fined $25,000 for hit on Bengals punter

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Terence Garvin laid a devastating block on Cincinnati Bengals punter Kevin Huber on Sunday Night Football, that paved the way for wide receiver Antonio Brown to take a punt back for a touchdown during the teams win.

Unfortunately for Garvin, the big hit that broke Huber’s jaw and a vertebra. will lead to a nice chunk of change coming from his bank account.

According to WLWT, Garvin has been fined $25,000 by the league for his big hit.

After Garvin’s hit, the league confirmed that he should have been penalized for the block but the referees overlooked the call. However, the league office was not as forgiving after reviewing the film.

Huber is set to undergo season-ending surgery on Friday to repair his broken jaw.

IT’S FOOTBALL! PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET HIT HARD! HOW LONG WILL NFL OWNERS ALLOW ROGER GOD-DELL TO CONTINUE HIS INCOMPETENT STAY AS COMMISSIONER? HOW CAN YOU FINE PLAYERS FOR PLAYING THE GAME WHILE YOU SIT ON YOUR MOUNTAIN OF FECAL MATTER MAKING 29 MILLION A YEAR? BLOCKING AND TACKLING ARE FUNDAMENTALS OF PLAYING FOOTBALL WHICH YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED PROFESSIONALLY! IN ALL OF MY YEARS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A COMPLETE IDIOT LIKE HIM!!!

I can’t wrap my head around the rule that a guy trying to make a tackle is defenseless. Goodell should just put Tutus and flags on the players and hope they don’t break a nail pulling the flags off….I wonder what % of the fines he skims off

Absolutely agree! Roger Goodall has to go, this rule is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever heard, a punter is totally defenceless even when he attempts to tackle, long after he has completed the punt?? What has happened to this league?!
