The NBA Draft is still months away but it’s still being talked about on a daily basis. This may be because college basketball is going on right now and we’re getting to see next year’s crop of players develop before our eyes, or it could be because this upcoming class is being lauded as best class we’ve seen in years.

A guy many say is at the top of the class is Duke Blue Devils star Jabari Parker, but with great draft status comes great scrutiny. Parker is being compared to New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and while Parker wants to be his own player, he’s not shying away from a comparison he’s likening to a high honor.

“Yeah, it’s a good comparison,” Parker said, via Zagsblog.com “He mastered the fundamentals. He’s always good at his craft. He works on it and that’s a person I’ve been looking up to, so yeah, that’s good compliment.”

Some are using the comparison to say that Parker will end up being a star that never shines as bright as it can in the NBA, but most people are seeing the comparison as an accurate portrayal of Parker’s work at Duke. He’s going to be in the running for the No. 1 overall pick this year and his season at Duke will determine if the Melo comparison stick or sheds by the time June rolls around.
