Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed last week’s game due to a foot injury, but he was aiming to return to the field on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was likely that Peterson would be active for Sunday afternoon’s game, but that was confirmed just one hour before kick off when the official inactives list was released.

To add to the running back depth, back up Toby Gerhart has also been ruled active.

Minnesota is only playing for pride at this point in the season, but some fantasy football owners will be happy to learn that Peterson has been given the green light.

The Vikings inactives for Week 16 are quarterback Josh Freeman, defensive end Justin Trattou, offensive tackle Mike Remmers, wide receiver Rodney Smith, defensive tackle Chase Baker and cornerback Xavier Rhodes.
